Pink Glasses

The most powerful words of wisdom come to me from my own flesh and blood. The old saying that ‘the acorn does not fall far from the tree’ is a timely reminder to me, particularly at times when I feel alone or otherwise isolated from the rest of humanity. Words of advice that I would once have given come travelling back to me with far more grace than I deserve. I am constantly humbled by the love that is offered to me by my family, and at times I marvel at the reflections that I see in their faces. It is in their offerings of forgiveness, in their continuing patience with one so imperfect, that I see and experience a taste of the kindness of God. I am taught to remove the pink glasses and see nothing but naked truth.
