Fredrica Mathewes-Green

I am reading a most intriguing book entitled “Gender”, the first in a series of four volumes. The other three books contain essays that address issues in the arenas of ethics, faith, and culture. I must confess that I was not initially taken with the authour. Perhaps that was because I was feeling somewhat protective of my own convictions, and somewhat threatened by her Orthodox (and formerly ‘feminist’)posturing. However as I have continued to read her work, I have found myself warming up to her positions. I see a comfortable familiarity in her style of writing, and more than just a few common soap boxes. I am almost finished the book, and may just go out and hunt for some more of the same fare. That is, after I finish the motherload of used books that I just picked up from the JCC (gratis…what could I do..just leave them there? Alone, unloved and unread?)….
