Selling Your Goods: Pricing, Promotion & Product



For us urban farmers, roadside stands may not be as practical, but for the open market stands- this advice is invaluable!!

As your small-scale farm begins to thrive, you are ready to get your product to the market. More importantly,  you are ready to make a profit. Will you compete with local farmers, grocery stores or organic specialists? How will you package and present your product for the best marketable edge? After doing a bit of research, you will be sure to come up with a plan for selling your own produce and eggs by paying close attention to supply and demand, presentation and profitability.

PRICING:

The first place that I looked to understand what my product was worth was the grocery store. It is important to look at a range of flyers, and to account for seasonal pricing. For example, oranges are priced to sell in February and March, but will increase as the season dwindles out.
